Search 0.1.90 / Getting Started
Install Search
Install Search and confirm its required integrations.
- Open Plugins → Add Plugin → Upload Plugin, upload
cointacted-search.zip, and activate it. - Open Cointacted → Search. If Social Terminal is not active, use Settings → Cointacted – Search.
- Enable the regular WordPress Posts and Pages sources first. Leave optional sources disabled until their owning plugins are installed and their public visibility has been reviewed.
- Set the minimum query length and the per-source result limit. Small public sites should begin with a minimum of two characters and a conservative result count.
- Enable Terminal integration only when Social Terminal is active. Enable the fallback search surface only when the active theme or SnapWeb header does not already provide a reviewed search placement.
- Save settings and test the same query as a signed-out visitor, a normal signed-in user, and an administrator.
Verify each presentation
- In Social Terminal, run
search roadmap, search sources, and one scoped query such assearch posts roadmap. - On a WordPress test page, publish
[cointacted_search]and confirm the local interface returns only publicly visible items for a guest. - When an official Pro source is enabled, search for one public item and one private item from that source. The public item may appear; the private item must not.
- If a theme, SnapWeb, or another add-on consumes the REST result contract, verify keyboard focus, result labels, destination URLs, empty state, and browser Back behavior in that surface.
Search does not require Typesense. Local WordPress search is the baseline. Optional shared search infrastructure is configured separately and must preserve the same source-level permission checks and local fallback.
Requirements
WordPress is sufficient for native sources. Optional sources require their corresponding plugins.
Updates should be installed from a verified package while preserving the plugin slug cointacted-search.
