AI 0.1.95 / Configuration

Configure AI providers

Connect, test, and safely store credentials for a supported AI provider.

Choose an adapter

Open Cointacted → AI → Settings. Available adapters include OpenAI-compatible chat completions, Google Gemini, Anthropic Messages, and editable presets for supported compatible services. A preset supplies defaults; it does not guarantee that the provider account can use a particular model.

Use Demo mode first. It exercises the terminal integration and limits without sending an external request.

Store production credentials

For production, define COINTACTED_AI_PROVIDER, COINTACTED_AI_ENDPOINT_URL, COINTACTED_AI_API_KEY, and COINTACTED_AI_MODEL in wp-config.php. Constants override saved values and make the protected fields read-only in WordPress.

Use HTTPS and a public provider endpoint. Private, local, malformed, or unsafe endpoints fail closed. Never paste an API key into a terminal prompt, screenshot, support bundle, or source repository.

Test before enabling users

Save the provider, open Testing, and run the primary connection test. Then run ai-setup; this validates the saved configuration without spending provider credit. For Pro fallback, test the fallback independently before enabling it.

An authentication, model-access, endpoint-safety, quota, or response-shape error means the provider is not ready. Keep access administrator-only until one normal ai QUESTION request succeeds and appears in Diagnostics without prompt text or credentials.
